Editorial Guidelines
Our commitment to creating accurate, unbiased, and genuinely helpful mortgage content. Learn how we research, write, and maintain the information you rely on.
Our Editorial Mission
To provide expats in the Netherlands with the most accurate, comprehensive, and practical mortgage information available online. We believe informed decisions lead to better outcomes, and every piece of content we publish aims to genuinely help our readers navigate the Dutch mortgage system.
Our Editorial Principles
Accuracy First
Every fact is verified against official sources. We cite Dutch legislation, AFM guidelines, and current market data. When regulations change, we update immediately.
Expert Review
All content is reviewed by our AFM-registered mortgage advisors. We don't publish anything an advisor wouldn't confidently tell a client.
Editorial Independence
Our content recommendations are based on what's best for readers, not what generates the most leads. We present all options, including ones that don't involve our services.
Plain Language
We write for expats who may not be familiar with Dutch financial systems. Jargon is explained, complex concepts are simplified, and examples are practical.
How We Create Content
Research & Sourcing
We start with official sources: Dutch government websites (rijksoverheid.nl), AFM publications, Nibud guidelines, and current legislation. We also draw on our advisors' real-world experience from 2,500+ client cases.
Writing & Drafting
Content is written by our team with deep knowledge of Dutch mortgages and expat challenges. We prioritize clarity, actionable advice, and addressing real questions clients ask.
Expert Review
Every piece is reviewed by at least one AFM-registered mortgage advisor. They check for accuracy, practical applicability, and potential misleading implications.
Publication & Monitoring
Published content is tagged with reviewer names and dates. We monitor for regulation changes and update content proactively, not just when errors are reported.
Calculator Methodology
How Our Calculations Work
Our mortgage calculator uses official Dutch lending criteria, including Nibud's woonquote tables and current LTV regulations. However, every calculation is an estimate—actual mortgage offers may vary based on individual assessment.
Calculator last updated: January 2026. Next scheduled review: April 2026.
